Welcome to The Caledonian Society of Arizona

Since 1964, Celtic associations state-wide have come together to celebrate Scottish culture and particularly to present Scottish Highland Games. In 1978 these various Celtic associations united to form The Caledonian Society of Arizona, a non-profit organization with 501(c) 3 tax-exempt status with the IRS.
Over the years our organization has grown, and we are proud to say that our Society still has many of the same members who were present from the beginning who serve on the Board and various committees. You can imagine the great stories we share with one another and the community about our Scots heritage.

The Caledonian Society of Arizona is the single largest Celtic organization in the state of Arizona and our mission is to promote Scottish culture through art, education and athletics. Each year the Caledonian Society of Arizona grants scholarships to aspiring and professional Highland athletes, musicians and dancers and/or any other individuals or organizations whose mission, project or program promotes Scottish heritage. We were recently granted a proclamation by the governor’s office that March is officially Arizona State Celtic Month.

Robert Burns
The Society also honors Scotland's poet - Robert Burns - with an annual event - usually in late January - a true celebration of Scottish culture.
Monthly Gatherings
Monthly gatherings feature educational and entertainment programs and we often provide sponsorships for Scottish activities such as Dance, Drums and Piping.
Highland Games
The Caledonian Society of Arizona has been proud to host The Phoenix Scottish Games - formerly named the Arizona Scottish Gathering & Highland Games - for half a century. You don’t have to be Scottish to attend our Games. We welcome everyone and hope you’ll share with us about your cultural background too! Visit the Genealogy tent and trace your own family roots. There will be so much to see and do! Artists will entertain throughout the day with their traditional and modern Scottish tunes. The wee lads & lassies area will entertain our younger visitors. We will also showcase competitive highland dancing, pipe bands, heavy athletics, country dancing, historical re-enactments, vintage British car show/exhibition and representatives of over 50 Clans. The Games will be held at Steele Indian School Park, 300 E. Indian School in mid-town Phoenix.

The Phoenix Scottish Games is a 2-day celebration of Scottish culture featuring athletics, music, dance, pipes & drums and genealogy research. Our 53rd annual Phoenix Scottish Games will be held at Steele Indian School Park on March 4-5, 2017.
